Popantel for Cats Description
Popantel Cat Allwormer Tablets is a tablet for the control of all species of gastrointestinal worms in kittens and cats including roundworm, hookworm and tapeworm.
Directions for Use
Weigh cats before treatment. Cats should be dosed according to bodyweight. Popantel is given as a single dose by mouth. Cats should be dosed on an empty stomach. One Popantel Cat Allwormer Tablet treats up to 11 lbs in weight. Cats and kittens 5 lbs and under should be given ½ tablet, cats 6 - 11 lbs should be given 1 tablet and cats over 11 lbs should be given 1 tablet per 11 lbs of bodyweight. A common regime for treatment is to worm kittens every 2 weeks from 2 weeks old until 12 weeks, monthly from 3 months until 6 months then every 3 months as an adult cat.
Do not use in kittens under 2 weeks of age. This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it.
Possible Side Effects
The side effects of Popantel are rare at the recommended dosage. Popantel has a wide margin of safety for all sizes and breeds of cats. It is approved for use in kittens as young as 2 weeks of age, pregnant and lactating queens. Popantel may be combined with other treatments, for example heartworm prevention, flea and tick treatments and vaccination.
Praziquantel, Pyrantel Embonate
